Quality control? Don’t rely on spellcheckers!
You might think you’ve been through your text with a fine tooth comb, but some errors will still slip through the net, undetected by a spellchecker.
Once they’re in print, they will stare you in the face every time you open your brochure. It’s easier to correct mistakes online, of course, but it would be so much better if they didn’t happen in the first place!
Incidentally, ‘copy and paste’ is one of the most dangerously convenient facilities: just recently I noticed an advertisement that had been copied by at least a dozen different agencies and re-listed online; the same simple text error had been reproduced every single time.
So how can you avoid these pitfalls? I’m one of those annoying people who can spot spelling mistakes and omissions at a hundred paces, and I’m passionate about correcting them. If you let me proofread your text, I’ll do it thoroughly and to the very best of my ability. Not just because you’ve asked me to, but because I have to!
